The Workers’ Welfare Association (AWO) provides parents with information about a wide range of courses and support services for families with children from birth until they start school. The aim of these programs is to support children’s development in an age-appropriate manner and to prepare them well for the transition to school. A particular focus is placed on language support for parents and children, as well as on strengthening language skills in everyday family life. Families can receive support and guidance from native-speaking staff in the following languages: English, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, Kurdish, Farsi, French, Urdu and Romanian.

The German-Ukrainian association “Spilnota” (currently being established) brings people together across the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region and creates opportunities for connection, exchange and active participation in society. At our booth, we will introduce our community, projects and activities and invite visitors to engage in conversation with us. A small interactive activity will give attendees the opportunity to get involved and learn more about Spilnota. We welcome everyone interested in the Ukrainian community, intercultural exchange, civic engagement and meeting new people.

The municipal program NEST at the Nuremberg Institute for Education and School Psychology provides information and guidance for parents and guardians on schools and the Bavarian education system. Qualified volunteer parent guides support cooperation between families and schools through their intercultural expertise. Questions can be asked not only in German but also in a variety of family languages. At the booth, visitors can obtain information about school enrollment, parent-teacher meetings, their children’s educational pathways, and the wide range of support services offered by NEST.
