How did you come to Germany and Central Franconia?

In 2022, I had to leave my hometown of Kharkiv because of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Friends who were already living in Feucht invited us to Middle Franconia and supported us during our first steps here. As a result, Middle Franconia initially became a place of safety for me and gradually turned into a new home. I first lived in Feucht and have been living in Egensbach since 2025.

In Ukraine, I was self-employed for ten years and ran my own event and decoration agency. During that time, I organized and designed more than 900 weddings, as well as numerous creative and international projects. Currently, I am exploring new professional opportunities in Germany and am seeking a position in project management, the cultural and events sector, or visual merchandising.

“Nuremberg and my hometown of Kharkiv are twin cities. This connection has a special personal meaning for me. It reminds me that genuine closeness can develop between cities and people, even across borders.”

What helped you when you first arrived in Mittlefranken? And what did you miss?

The support of other people, social organizations, volunteers, and the many practical pieces of advice I received were especially helpful. Language courses, internships, and my first job in Germany also helped me gain a better understanding of everyday life, the working world, and the people here.

Why did you stay in Mittelfranken?

Nuremberg and my hometown of Kharkiv are twin cities. This connection has a special personal meaning for me. It reminds me that genuine closeness can develop between cities and people, even across borders.

What do you wish for the future?

Above all, I wish for peace in Ukraine. At the same time, I hope to find a professional role in Germany where I can make meaningful use of my many years of experience, creativity, and organizational skills.

I would also like to contribute to cultural, creative, and international projects in Middle Franconia and share these experiences with people in Ukraine. My wish is to create new connections between Nuremberg, Middle Franconia, and Kharkiv. I want to help bring our cities, our countries, and above all, our people closer together.
